Community MINISTRY
LEAD: Jeanne Wieckert
The Community Ministries Team at Prince of Peace seeks to provide opportunities for each member to engage in activities with the purpose of helping people in need within our community and the world. These activities are as close to home as North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) and the North Central Georgia Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity and as far-reaching as Lutheran World Relief. We try to provide opportunities to serve that fit into everyone’s time, talent, and financial abilities. Some of our projects include:

Family Promise
Chair: Stephanie Ludtke
Family Promise is a program housing families in churches and synagogues with support in finding jobs and housing. Prince of Peace assists Northminster Presbyterian Church on Friday nights and Saturdays of the week that guests are living there. (4 times a year)
Habitat for Humanity
Chairpersons: Jeanne Wieckert and Maggie Delano
In conjunction with the churches of the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat, Prince of Peace raises funds and provides meals and volunteers for one Habitat home each year. This year’s build was completed in July with pandemic precautions, providing a family with a new home.
Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Quilts
Chair: Carol Ballentine
Dedicated quilters make quilts for Lutheran World Relief that find homes throughout the world in places of need. There is some part of this process that anyone can participate in: choosing and preparing fabrics, cutting squares, designing, sewing, basting/pinning the “sandwich,” binding, and tying the quilts. We have three sewing machines available for use.
North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC)
Chair: Stephanie & Phil Ludtke
Prince of Peace collects food for the food pantry on a continuing basis and school supplies, coats and items for the Christmas shop at various times during the year.
Inspiritus (formerly known as Lutheran Services of Georgia)
We have supported Inspiritus through the annual Golf Tournament, Lutheran Night at the Braves and Lutheran Night at the Gladiators. We also donate items to refugee resettlement programs and local disaster response teams.
