This Sunday we celebrate the Day of Pentecost. We will use two texts, Acts 2:1-21 and John 20:19-23. You can read the texts via the link below.
Wear Red this Sunday to celebrate Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the church.
Following are two verses to ponder. The first one is from Acts 2:5-6 Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. People heard and understood the Spirit / God in their own language so that they would truly understand / know / feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, the power and presence of God.
The Second is from John 20: 21 Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." 22 When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Through Jesus the Holy Spirit comes with breath, Jesus breathed on them, the breath of life, the breath of Spirit. Isn’t it interesting that all of us must breathe? So, there is a relationship between the Holy Spirit and the simple act of breathing.
So, receiving/knowing the Holy Spirit is also about following your heart. Let the light of the Spirit’s Grace shine in everything you do. Let the light of the Spirit’s real Forgiveness shine in everything you do. Let the light of the Spirit’s Love shine in everything you do. Blessings and peace be with you all!
Alleluia, Christ is Risen!
He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
See you in church,
Interim Pastor Craig Storlie
