Happy second month of a New Year! This is a new year (a whole month old) with new possibilities and God active in it all. Blessings and peace be with you all!
This Sunday we hear the second of four Gospel lessons from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in Matthew. Last Sunday we were challenged with the question, "Who are the Disciples"? The short answer to this is that WE are blessed and We are his disciples. This Sunday we look at "The Responsibilities of Discipleship", and Jesus sums up the responsibility of discipleship as "You are the salt of the earth," and "You are the light of the world". Don't hide IT.
Jesus is telling us, he is challenging us to let the light of God which is within us shine out. Don't be bland, let yourself be flavorfully, outstandingly, wow-fully, God filled. Let it be real. Live God's Grace, Forgiveness and Love. Don't hide the light or continue to believe that you don't have enough, because you do. Let it shine.
Try this. Let the light of God' Grace shine in everything you do. Let the light of God's real Forgiveness shine in everything you do. Let the light of God's Love shine in everything you do. Live out the light of God as best you are able, as best you can and transform the world, make God real. Happy New Year! This is the second month of a new year with new possibilities and God active in it all. Blessings and peace be with you all!
See you in Church,
