A message from Pastor Craig . . .This Sunday we celebrate All Saints Sunday. During worship, we will take time to remember the names of our friends and loved ones, the Saints, who have died this last year. We will name them and give thanks and praise to God for their lives with us, what they have taught us and not taught us about life and what they have taught us and not taught us about living life in faith, the good and the bad, all gracious parts of your presence with them and us. Saints and Sinners at the same time, real life in faith. You have blessed us in our lives together.

But All Saints Sunday is not just a time of thanks and remembrance it is also a Sunday when we, the living Saints, members of the priesthood of believers are also challenged to live our lives more faithfully. We Saints are emboldened to be, as best as we are able, called to be the living faithful examples of Christ in our community and world.

When we were Baptized/Confirmed most of us heard the following challenge:

You have made public profession of your faith. Do you intend to continue in the covenant God made with you in holy baptism?

to live among God's faithful people,

to hear the word of God and share in the Lord's supper,

to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed,

to serve all people, following the example of Jesus,

and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth?

The Saints/Sinners who have gone before us have left their legacy for us to follow. Now we Saints/Sinners are left to pick up the mantle of faith and trust and follow Christ with our lives. After all, what are we going to do with all this Grace, all this Forgiveness, and all this Love.

See you in Church,

Interim Pastor Craig Storlie

Luke 6:20 Then he looked up at his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.  21"Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled.  "Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. 22Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man. 23Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets.   24"But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. 25"Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry.  "Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep.26Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.  27But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 29If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. 30Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. 31Do to others as you would have them do to you.
