Alleluia, Christ is Risen!
He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

This Sunday is the seventh Sunday of Easter and the resurrection Gospel is from John 17:1-11.  This is part of Jesus’ long final prayer as he prepares his disciples for what is to come, which includes his death and resurrection. You can read the whole text via the link below.

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus makes a very challenging statement.  “3 And this is eternal life, that they [the disciples] may know you, the only true God.”There are other qualifying statements surrounding this phrase, but this one has always caught my attention. What is eternal life? It is to know God.

So, think about this, eternal life is not something you earn, it is knowing God now.  Eternal life is not something you work towards, it is knowing God now and it is something you are in now. Eternal life is not something you get by following the “rules” of faith, it is knowing God now. Eternal life is not something that happens only after you die, it is knowing God and living in God now. Eternal life is now!

So, follow your heart. Let the light of God’s Grace shine in everything you do. Let the light of God’s real Forgiveness shine in everything you do.  Let the light of God’s Love shine in everything you do.  Blessings and peace be with you all!

Alleluia, Christ is Risen!
He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

See you in church,
