Youth Creative Arts Worship

Come join us for a new creative arts worship program. We will meet together beginning Sunday, November 5, from 9 - 9:30 in the Music Room. We look to perform for the congregation through song, dance, and theatre as we worship God through the arts.

Sunday, November 5 is All Saints' Day. We would like to remember loved ones or friends who have died since All Saints 2016 (Nov 1, 2016 - present). On this Sunday, they will be remembered during our prayers in worship and included in the Book of Remembrance.

Church Yard Sale

Now is the time to clean out your basement or attic, and make some cash or donate to our awesome Youth Group (KNKT)! We are having a HUGE yard sale at POP Saturday, September 23rd, 8am – 2pm in the parking lot (Fellowship Hall if weather is bad). 

 

There are two ways to participate and ALL are invited, so please advertise to your friends and neighbors:

Ways to Participate / Support our Youth Group (KNKT)

  1. Purchase a space to sell your items and keep your proceeds
    $20 using your own table OR
    $25 to use a table from church.

       2. Donate your items and POP Youth (KNKT) will sell at their table.

All proceeds from this event (Participation Fees and money from donated items) will go to the Youth Group (KNKT) to help fund their next Mission Trip!

Donated items may be dropped off in the Basement of the Sanctuary. Please use the first door from the parking lot and there will be someone available to help you.

Every day you work to make your community a better place. On Sunday, September 10, at PoP, we will do it together. Be prepared to serve and join in the fun and fellowship. You are welcome to participate any time between 9:45 am-1:30 pm. All Hands on deck! 

Join us after each service for opportunities to lift up others.

YOU can help ............

  • Bring an item for the food pantry. (Let's overflow the lobby.)
  • Make mats for the homeless. (They were in demand last year and homeless ministries have requested more)
  • Make quilts for comfort in times of disaster
  • Create cards for those who are alone.
  • Improve our facility to better serve the community.

Life Line Screening

Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, is pleased to offer a preventive health event at Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church on 7/19/2017. 

Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis.

Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount).  All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete.

Preaching and Presiding- Rev. Debra Jiminez

Last Sunday, many PoP members were able to be a part of the ordination service for Debra Jimenez.  We are so proud of all that she has accomplished on her spiritual journey to beordained.  This Sunday, July 9, we feel both honored and blessed to be the first congregation to hear her preach and preside over worship as a newly ordained minister.

Mats for the Homeless

Plastic mats!  They are free to make and each mat keeps 500-700 plastic bags out of the landfill. The mats are lightweight, portable, dry easily, and each comes with a carry strap.  All ages are welcome to come and make mats! Contact Elleen Miller or Amber Nettles below if you have any questions

Prince of Peace, along with the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat, kicked off this years Habitat Build Saturday, April 1. We continue to build every Saturday 9am-3pm (with the exception of Memorial Day weekend).  The build will be completed by the end of June.

The build this year is at 6017 Kemp Drive, Acworth.  The home is being built for the Scheitlin family.  Angela will help build the home for her two children William (9 years) and Zoey (8 years) both with chronic health problems.
